How to use Kastr

Step-by-step guides, from your first song to running every screen in the room. Follow them in order the first time; after that, jump to what you need.

Guide 01

Get started

Create an account and a workspace. A workspace holds everything your team shares.

  1. Click Open Kastr and sign up with your email and a password.

  2. Choose Create workspace and give it your team, church, or venue name. If someone already made one, choose Join workspace and enter their invite code, or open the invite link they sent you.

  3. You land on Programs. The sidebar takes you to Songs, Media, Slides, Themes, and People.

Guide 02

Add a song

Paste the lyrics once. Kastr turns them into slides and keeps them in the shared library.

  1. Open Songs in the sidebar and click New song.

  2. Enter a Title and, if you like, the Artist.

  3. Paste the lyrics. Every blank line starts a new slide. A line like Verse 1, Chorus, or Bridge labels the section so you can jump to it during the show.

  4. Slides too long? Click Auto slice and pick how many lines go on each slide. Reset slice undoes it.

  5. Optional: pick a Theme, and set a Tempo if you want Karaoke to light each word on the beat.

  6. Click Save song. Check the live preview beside the lyrics to see each slide as the audience will.

Guide 03

Upload media

Photos and videos play from the same setlist as your songs.

  1. Open Media in the sidebar and click Add media.

  2. Choose a file from your computer: JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF images, or MP4 and WebM videos.

  3. Wait for the upload to finish. The item appears in the list and is ready to add to any program.

  4. To remove an item, delete it from the list. It is taken out of every setlist too.

Guide 04

Make custom slides

Design welcome screens, announcements, and sermon points with text and images.

  1. Open Slides in the sidebar and click New slides.

  2. Give the deck a title, pick a starting template (Blank, Welcome, Announcement, or Sermon point), and click Create and edit.

  3. Double-click any text to type. Drag boxes to move them and drag the handles to resize. Guides appear to snap things into line.

  4. Drop or paste an image onto the slide to add it. Use the panel on the right to change fonts, colors, and the slide background.

  5. Use Add slide in the left rail for more slides. Drag the thumbnails to reorder them.

  6. Click Save, or press Ctrl S. Kastr warns you before you leave with unsaved changes.

Guide 05

Set a look with themes

A theme is a saved look: background, font, size, weight, and letter case.

  1. Open Themes in the sidebar. Every workspace starts with Void, Navy, and Mist.

  2. Adjust the settings on the left and watch the stage preview update.

  3. Click Save theme. Click a theme in the list to edit it later.

  4. Assign the theme to a song from the song editor, or to a whole program from the program page.

Guide 06

Build a program

A program is the setlist for one service or show: songs, media, and slides in running order.

  1. Open Programs, click the plus button, enter a title, and optionally a Run date. Click Create program.

  2. On the right, the Library lists your songs and media. Click Add next to an item, or drag a song into the setlist.

  3. Click Add media to upload a photo or video straight into the setlist.

  4. Click Add slides to create a custom slide deck. It is added to the setlist and opens in the editor; the back button returns you to the program.

  5. Click New song to write a song on the spot. Save and add puts it in the library and the setlist.

  6. Drag rows to reorder the set. Use each row's menu to edit, add a colored tag like Opener, or remove it.

  7. Optional: set a program theme and lyric size to override every song's look for this set, without changing the songs.

Guide 07

Run the show

The operator deck drives every screen from one browser tab.

  1. Open the program and click Run program, or press the play button on the program list.

  2. Click Open projection. Drag the new window to the projector or LED wall and press F for fullscreen.

  3. Move through slides with ← and →, or click any slide in the list. Section chips jump straight to a chorus or bridge.

  4. Press B or click Blackout to clear the screens. Press it again to bring the lyrics back.

  5. For a video, Space plays and pauses and M mutes the projector.

  6. Need a change mid-show? Add a song or media item, fix a typo on a single slide, or drag the setlist into a new order. The screens keep up.

Guide 08

Share screens and clickers

Let other screens follow along and let someone else advance the slides.

  1. Click Copy public link and open it on lobby TVs, phones, or a stream computer. They show the live slide without signing in.

  2. Click Share clicker and have a teammate scan the QR code with their phone to get next and previous buttons.

  3. For a guest without an account, turn on Allow without sign-in in the same dialog. New code stops old QR codes from working.

  4. Turn on Pause clickers to lock every phone clicker while you take control. The header shows who is controlling the deck.

Guide 09

Invite your team

Everyone in a workspace shares the same songs, media, slides, themes, and programs.

  1. Open People in the sidebar.

  2. Click Copy link or Copy code and send it to your teammate. They join after signing up.

  3. Owners and admins can change roles, remove people, and rotate the invite code.

  4. In a few teams? Switch workspaces from the switcher at the top of the sidebar.
